Welcome to WikiCongress[edit | edit source]

Imagine if "We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union" created a WikiCongress, to act as a people-partisan "think tank" to propose new legislation. Would the interests of the American people be more fairly represented than the interests of Special Interests? This is the experiment that begins here at WikiCongress.

WikiCongress has two goals:

  1. To introduce legislative ideas that may ultimately be taken up by Congress.
  2. To educate people about existing legislation currently in Congress.

Therefore educators are very welcome to introduce their students to aspects of the legislative process by using this site. It should be noted however that WikiCongress has its own legislative rules that differ from the standard rules of congress.

Since WikiCongress is just underway, help is needed in the development of this site!

Active Legislation[edit | edit source]

Active Legislation is introduced by anyone. Please feel free to add Legislation.

WikiHouse Rules[edit | edit source]

  • Since this is a political site, there is danger of degenerating into emotional partisanship. Even as we fault our legislators for bitter partisanship, clearly debate on the Internet is no less rancorous. In order to develop people-partisan positions on legislation, WikiHouse Rules and Procedure uses an alternative to debate known as Six Thinking Hats. The legislation template encorporates the legislative structure that conforms to WikiHouse rules.
